Siquijor

Ferrying into a land of mystery…all I knew was to expect the unexpected - and that some of the most amazing places had the power to shift your perspective.

What I associate the most from my stay in Siquijor was a feeling of freedom, helped by having a motorbike - definitely the best way to explore the island! I will never be quite that “me” again, literally cruising along hilly roads from one waterfall to the next, snorkelling the most beautiful corals I’ve ever laid eyes on, finding the PERFECT spot to sit and read on a beach, meeting friends I’ve made from the hostel for dinner, all in one day.

On an epic day trip, I drove hundreds of kilometers around the island’s circumferential road. Including all the stops I took to take breaks, photos, and lunch, it took about six hours. I remember blitzes of it, turning around a bend that led to this incredible view of the sea, how the temperature dropped as the road cut through a forest of trees, the smell of that freshly baked bread and salty sea air.

Siquijor had some amazing places to eat, opened by people who moved there. A truly underrated destination.
