On a day trip from Tacloban City to Basey, Samar, I visited Sohoton Cave - the most beautiful and well-preserved cave system I have visited across the Philippines, so far. While waiting for the next boat, I chatted with the staff from the local cooperative that manages the caves as an eco-tourism destination. I think one of the best Visayan day trips to promote!
The rocks in these caves literally sparkled and justify describing the experience as magical. It was pouring when we emerged, then kayaked to a cavernous opening, the Natural Bridge. There was already a group of people under the cave, some still eating while sitting on rocks, their riverside picnic disrupted, temporarily, by the rain.
