Northern Samar, Part Two

From the mainland port in Allen, Northern Samar, I made my way to the town of Lavazares, then took another local boat to the port at Biri Island. I watched an episode of Biyahe ni Drew some years ago from their visit here and have wanted to visit since. Truly incredible landscapes!

My local guide, coordinated through the tourist office, took me to a viewing point for my first sunset in Biri. ā€œOtherworldlyā€ sums it up.

The next morning, we headed to another viewpoint to watch the sun rise in between formations that made it look like a fiery, beating heart. I feel there really is no substitute for being here, seeing the striations in the rock up close, standing on those cliffs, feeling the wind whip you with fierceness when it wanted. Those views take me away, every time.

Life, on an island like Biri, moves at its pace, and Iā€™m grateful as a visitor for the locals who welcome us in. Daghang salamat po!
